"you look like a trendy picnic!"

lets just press the "ignore" button on this prank call from mr winter,
and proceed with spring, as planned.

In 2 days, I will be twenty three.
I'm kind of excited because:

I have an inkling that it will be a good year.
Not necessarily easy, but good.
(I have had to learn the difference.)

I told my photo-genius lil sistah how much I loved balloons lately,
and next thing you know we're blowing up a bag full of 'em
and frolicking in the yard.
Two good things: little sisters, and red balloons.

we used all red and one white...for sake of symbolism
symbolism of what you may wonder?
open to interpretation, b/c we never had any clue.

a perfect whirled

something about spring makes me very balloon-centric.
and primary colors, lately, I don't hate em.
(typically I struggle to accept straightforward-crayola blues and reds)

In other news, I dearly belove the name of this tarte cheekstain, which makes me want it even more than I already do, as I am a collector and an avid fan (more for the packaging that for the product, like with most things) and already know I'm getting it for my birthday. I found a dream chair today, if we get it, I'll show you.
also, I get to see phantom in a couple weeks.

happy camper, party of one!

bragging, writes

today was fun, i have been living vicariously through my little sister's spring break.
first we went extremo-bargain shopping,
then shooting clay pigeons with my dad.
and i must say, i am a skilled bargain shopper
...and not so skilled a skeet shooter.
(mind you, i am determined to improve for sake of annie-get-your-gun puns, and such)

here's the part where I brag-a-lag:
1. tracy reese black loop-strap halter - reg. $348, got it for $25
2. kenzie blue and black gingham flutter-sleeve dress - reg $88, got it for $7
3. theory v-neck, burgundy, boring but timeless - reg approx $200, got it for $30

highlight on the pom-pom trim bib! holla.

nothing to do but cross my fingers and be thankful for the sunshine!

five sense friday

I decided to do what I saw on another girl's blog, named abby.
I like her idea:
every friday, you recap things your five senses liked that week.
play it with me!

SIGHT:
- dancing with the stars has begun a new season, oh the joy.
- a sneaky peek-tour of our house-to-be across the street, and hours of color-swatch browsing.

SOUND:
- lots of people in our house at once, it's joyful, loud, and laughy. and it hasn't happened in a while for we are hermits, and strange.
- successful phone interview, x 2

SMELL:
- COFFEE. especially when i wake up and someone has already started making it.
- spring in the air, even though it was cold this week...i could still feel it!

TOUCH:
- my newly-chopped hair brushing across the tips of my shoulders (instead of halfway down my back)
- my fluff-wad kitty (when he's not biting at our fingers and pantlegs.)

TASTE:
- kalie's off-the-top-of-her-head lettuce wraps.
- little cesars $5 pizzas
- panera cinnamon crunch bagels... $1.19 and worth every penny.

so, that was pretty fun.
this coming week, I will try to be over-sensory so my Five Senses Friday can be one for the books.

happy weekend, spring is nearly here!

brain on the run, face like a caught fish

i'm not a huge fan of "change", unless we're talking seasons.

(that maybe sounds politically undertoned, but on accident. politics is not my language, and when people talk politics, my ears grow mufflers and all i want to do is drown out the world with teeni pop and have us all break out into coreography on the street. note: I feel the same about economy-talk and the big 12. i can't help my childish lack of interest sometimes...tangent!)

and every season, i succomb to the temptations to change my hair.

result this spring: I have pulled a mandy moore. (hair-wise, circa 2001, it was groundbreaking at the time for us How to Deal fans-which was maybe just my 2 friends and I, and the girl I babysat- so anyway, just the hair, not the marrying ryan adams part. i fear she is taller than him, which is on the list of My Worst Nightmares.)

observe:

I haven't broken down in tears over my lost locks, which i'm taking as a sign of maturity,

and/or a brewing attraction and respect for my lil frienemy, "change".

if i were a trench girl la de da de da

I used to think trenchy coats were reserved for:
shady man-detectives with cigars.
But much to my surprise, all I have wanted this spring is:

a trenchy coat! (gasps and intrigue.)

in other news, when I cleaned out my car,
I found the pink (fake-o) spectacles my lil sis gave me

this has led me to hope that strangers will assume:
I am nancy drew, in pursuit of a suspect. and lookin fly.

shiningtime station

Spring has arrived to warm my gray winter spirits,
and I am wearing red pants.

we are officially across-the-street moving -
and I want our whole new house to look like this chandy from Kelly:

who doesn't love a pink chandy!?

ode to florals

lately every print made of flowers,
makes me gaze and swoon for hours.
especially when the arm-sleeves have bows,
those are the best kinds of clothes.
and though I am silly and poor,
I tell myself "of course you need more!!!".
And while the rest of my life is a mess,
at least I'll have a cute easter dress.
