new leaf/disk

i am one of those people often charmed by the concept of "more is more" and "bigger is better".  on principle, i'd say i didn't believe it.  good things, small packages, you know the drill.  however, from couches to accessories to serving sizes; the larger it is...the more i like it.  [exhibit A: as i type this, i am snacking on my roommate's box of cheez-its BIG.  even if we had cheez-its: REGULAR, it's clear which one i'd opt for.  nom nom.]

anyway, my tastes, as far as accessories go [you'll never change me about food, nom nom again], are changing.  i'm beginning to understand the appeal of simple, elegant, wear-every-day stuff.  dainty pendants look so feminine and effortless draped along your...clavicle?, wheras i'm normally the girl whose necklace weighs more than her head, reaches past her waist,  and is covered with more baubles and trappings than ever imaginable.

so i set out to find a wear-every-day necklace that could both celebrate and understate what it means to get dressed for the day.  something that would fulfill my need to be "The girl who always wears the ...." [identity issues over herre] without begging for attention. [like all my other jewelry.]  of course, i turned to etsy.  i found this from an adorable shop called edor:
my new necklace- its teeny!  i opened it and ....wait, what, where is it!?  [but that's the texas in me talking].  now, i'm used to it, and i love it.   basically, it's a gold and a silver disk strung from a simple, short silver chain.  it's so not me!  [usually the disks are more overlapping...at this point, they were probs just stickin to my sweat, you know how it is.]

this is what i wore to work today...it was sooo hot, i just wanted to be able to breathe after waking up for the day in a pool of sweat.  you're so very welcome, for the mental image.  please note the components of my outfit; very very old old navy skirt, borrowed from the bottom of my roomie's drawer.  scarf from beaucoup de years ago, my go-to sandals, and a white hane's v-neck tee that comes in packs of 3 at walmart.  nothing at all glam about this look, people.  but sure enough, i stroll into work this morning [aka: man-ville] and get "hey, you're all dressed up today!"

....?
what, dude?? i am wearing the equivalent to your undershirt, as an actual top, and you choose today to tell me that i look fancy?

men.

i found these strange garden scissors just laying in our yard, so i was like "oh!  a prop!".  i know they aren't ours because a) we don't have garden tools and b) our garden lasted 3 days and then became an overgrown patch of grass/weeds for a little over a year before we were like "screw it, mow the beast."  so..even if we had garden tools, they clearly wouldn't have any reason to be near the garden...the Garden That Is No More.

what do you think of my understated necklace!?
have i succeeded!?

it's the little things in life.

....LITERALLY!  LIKE MY LITTLE NECKLACE!  WOW!  she CAN be taught!
