rebecca

so, the past couple weeks in pumpkin-scarlet-land have been interesting.
i have temporarily re-located and am "vacationing" chez mon parents.

which actually has provided a dearth [big word cha-ching!] of inspiration, more than i expected anyway.  my parents live minutes from my discount disco [why yes, i have nicknames for my favorite stores...it's normal] and i have been scoring some chill-inducing deals.

this rebecca taylor silk cami-dress [reg $238] was $40.  its super flowy and magical, the perfect piece to remind me to enjoy the last lingering days of summer.

worn with some vintage beigy-pink dancing shoes that i acquired from the "costume closet" of kappa my freshman year of college.  [it could be said that not many girls actually wore, in seriousness, the items found in the costume closet...although i know of a few others besides myself.]

something to think about when wearing dresses with pockets [which who doesn't love a dress with pockets?!] :  if you pose for pics with your hands inside said cute dress pockets...you will look like a mannequin with missing hands.  or an amputee.  it will distract all attention from your sparkling smile.  you will flip through the pictures later and get all, "where are my hands!?"  This happens all too often, and even in group party pics...the eye is drawn to the handless girl.  so, word of caution.  always keep a bit of your hand visible, even when flaunting your pockets.

i know this post is getting rambly, but i have also recieved inspiration in the way of novels, a la ma mere...she is quite the avid reader, which i inherited.  she's always got some cute new mystery around the house for me to snag.  this time, it's a novel called The Help by kathryn stockett, that i have just started and can't wait to finish.  it's about the 1960s and it's gotten rave reviews.  you should read it, too!

i love books.  oh, and cheap rebecca taylor silky frocks.  oh, and Things From The Costume Closet.  oh, and....

Have you read the Hunger Games books? I think you would really like them. It is a series of three, and the last one comes out on Tuesday. They have a really great female protagonist and are fun of adventure, excitement and even some young love. They are actually juvenile lit books, so they are reallllly quick reads and are pretty awesome.
